To wrap the 2021 Girls School season, ARTRAGE produced The Rocky Horror Show Immersive Halloween Spectacular in October 2021.

The show is a participatory experience of the cult-classic film, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, in shadow-cast format. Featuring 7 WA-based performers, the performance showcased an enthralling combination of drag, burlesque, drama, circus and dance.

In producing The Rocky Horror Show Immersive Halloween Spectacular, ARTRAGE strived to create a unique and truly original experience unlike anything else on offer in Perth. The project went on to achieve an 83% attendance rate highlighting the evident hunger for more original cultural events in Perth.

The experience had an additional dining element that ran parallel to the main show. Patrons were treated to a private performance and a specially themed dining menu that complimented the performance starting with a ā€œbloodā€ filled syringe and ended with a science experiment inspired dessert.

Taking the opportunity to surprise and delight at every turn, The Rocky Horror Picture Show Immersive Halloween Spectacular provided a captivating teaser for ARTRAGEā€™s next chapter.

New Connections

ARTRAGE is delighted that The Rocky Horror Show Immersive Halloween Spectacular has been able to connect West Australian artists and facilitate new and exciting artistic collaborations.

After the collaborative experience of Rocky, cast members worked together again on Fringe favourite, Club Dā€™amour, and went on to amaze audiences each night of the Festival with their jaw-dropping performance.

With a jaw dropping combination of drag, aerial and live music, Club Dā€™amour went on to be shortlisted for the Festivalā€™s top award, The Martin Sims Award, which celebrates new West Australian work that is destined to succeed on the world stage.

Grand Ambitions

In 2022, ARTRAGE is taking The Rocky Horror Show Immersive Spectacular on the road.

The production will bring its spirited flair to twelve towns across the Wheatbelt, Great Southern, South West and Kalgoorlie-Esperance regions and will provide regional audiences the opportunity to enjoy a unique theatre format.

The tour will be visiting a variety of regional venues from large-scale purpose-built venues to stunning heritage town halls, creating an exciting opportunity for the cast and crew to remount the show in a flexible format to suit multiple spaces.

Alongside the touring production, the cast will host community and school workshops at select towns along the tour. Drawing upon the casts own performance disciplines from contemporary dance, costume design, street performance and much more, the workshops will help inspire passion within communities for the performing arts and creative pursuits.

After rave reviews from the showā€™s first run, this show is sure to stay in the hearts and minds of those who get to experience this incredibly fun and lively show.
